History

Trapelo Cottage was built in 1860 and predates the establishment of the school by 30 years. Located at the Trapelo Road entrance, the cottage is a two-story residential home which faces out toward the public street. A projecting bay extends from the southeastern facade, and several small sheds are located on the plot. It is clad in asbestos siding in the same fashion as Cardinal Cottage. When the property was acquired by the institution, it was used for DMR operations and day care provided by Waverley Oaks Child Development.
