Storeroom
Relevant Dates: 1903
A view of the Storeroom Building, which was originally used as a power plant and laundry for the school in 1891. In the historic photograph, linens are being loaded onto a wagon near the front entrance and coal is being delivered on a sled at the lower entrance, both drawn by horses. In the background is the tall smokestack that once stood behind the building. Many physical alterations of the building, such as the removal of the gabled roof, chimneys, and grading of the land can be detected between the two views.
Historic photograph taken circa 1903, from the Harvard Art Museums/Fogg Museum, Transfer from the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Social Museum Collection. Contemporary photo by Tom Kirsch, 2019.
